The Best of PartnerConnex 2017 - Product Unveilings, Boomwhackers, Catchboxes & More

Earlier this month, hundreds of channel partners took to Philadelphia for our second-annual partner conference, PartnerConnex 2017, from April 4-6. 

The event was a mixture of inspirational keynotes from industry leaders and experts, educational learning sessions, and intimate hands-on demos and conversations with peers, CoreDial team members and event sponsors. All of this with the goal of helping channel partners accelerate their business and fuel their success.

Read on for a summary of what went down at this year’s PartnerConnex event.


CoreDial created PartnerConnex to provide our channel partner community with a forum to connect face-to-face with their peers and technology providers, to listen, learn and share their knowledge, to learn about new products and features from CoreDial, and most importantly to work on their business rather than in their business.

To say the opportunities for the channel with unified communications and cloud telephony are abundant would be an absolute understatement. The numbers don’t lie. By 2021, global end user spending on UC will hit $43 billion. And in the next 3 years, small business adoption of cloud telephony will reach 41 percent!

Here at CoreDial, we’re passionate about helping the channel succeed. After all, we’re 100 percent channel-focused (we don’t sell direct to end users). So naturally the theme of the conference was fueling channel success, and it was very apparent during the three days of the event that there was plenty of fueling going on.


Day 1

Day one kicked off with a few words from CoreDial’s CEO Alan Rihm, who welcomed the crowd and congratulated them on our success together.

“Regardless of why you selected us, together we all grew at well above industry rates from top line growth rate, to the number of net new seats on the SwitchConnex platform,” Rihm said. “By all accounts, together we’re a big disruptive force in the space.”

Alan went on to talk about CoreDial’s continued focus on partner success and the goal of PartnerConnex 2017.

“We talk a lot about our focus on your success, and that focus is unwavering,” Rihm said. “PartnerConnex 2017 is all about you, and engaging to help accelerate your business and to help fuel your success.”


Following Alan's opening remarks, the CoreDial team took to the stage to lead the crowd in an interactive rendition of Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger” that had employees and channel partners alike jamming out in true CoreDial fashion.

Following the opening remarks and musical magic, the day wrapped with a welcome reception in the expo hall that allowed partners to network with peers, sponsors and CoreDial team members.




Day 2

Day two kicked off bright and early with a morning keynote by Alan Rihm, CEO of CoreDial, Ken Lienemann, Chief Revenue Officer at CoreDial, and Caitlin Clark-Zigmond, VP of Product Management at CoreDial.

Channel partners were given an exclusive first look at CoreDial’s newest products, services and partner programs, as well as our product roadmap, including the addition of the BroadWorks call control services to SwitchConnex, a new SD-WAN solution in partnership with VeloCloud, a new ConnectWise integration to our SwitchConnex platform, the addition of voicemail and call recording transcription through Google’s API, and CoreDial’s soon-to-be-announced UC client.

And it was evident partners were pumped about the announcements and excited to accelerate their businesses with the new products, services and opportunities.



Following the morning keynote, attendees had a full line-up of educational breakout sessions on a variety of business and technology topics. Thanks to our friends at Catchbox to for the fun branded Q&A mics!


CoreDial's VP of Partner Success, Colleen Schmidt, teamed up with BroadSoft's Joe Harsch to provide an overview of the key differences between BroadWorks and Asterisk and how to choose the right tool for the right customer, as well as best practices for qualifying and pricing BroadWorks deals.

Don Nawrocki, CoreDial's CTO, took a deeper dive into CoreDial's new SD-WAN solution through VeloCloud, and teamed up with MASS Communications' CEO Darren Mass to talk about how to deliver last-mile quality with SD-WAN and MPLS.

VP of Channel Sales at CoreDial, Jim DeBald, joined with a CoreDial partner to discuss how to translate feature requests into what customers really need.

Caitlin Clark-Zigmond, VP of Product Management at CoreDial, shared with partners how they can leverage mobile to drive cloud adoption and retention.

CoreDial's VP of Infrastructure, Chris Abboud, shared best practices on delighting customers.

VP of Marketing at CoreDial, Meghan VanSpriell, led a panel discussion on how to turn customer premise equipment into recurring revenues.

And last, but not least, CoreDial's Director of Software Development, Mike King, provided partners with a first look at CoreDial's new ConnectWise integration.


The afternoon found channel partners interacting with peers, sponsors and CoreDial team members in the expo hall.


The icing on the cake for day 2 was the closing guest keynote by sales and marketing expert, Marcus Sheridan. CoreDial partners were glued to their seats, eyes fixed on The Sales Lion as he shared his experiences in growing business by changing your sales and marketing mindset. Day 3

The final day of the event started with a lively panel discussion by CoreDial’s Partner Advisory Council. Members shared lessons they've learned over the years and answered audience questions.

Six more educational breakout sessions followed the keynote panel.


Pat Mahon, CoreDial's VP of Business Development, led a panel discussion on developing a winning sales plan and organization.

CoreDial's VP of Infrastructure, Chris Abboud, led a panel with several endpoint and edge device vendors to discuss best practices in deploying endpoints and edge devices.

Jim DeBald, VP of Channel Sales at CoreDial, teamed up with a CoreDial partner to share how to transition from VAR to MSP.

The CoreDial marketing team, led by Meghan VanSpriell, shared with partners easy and effective ways to market UCaaS and drive leads.

CoreDial's Director of Systems Engineering & Architecture, Kevin McAllister, discussed common vulnerabilities at the customer premise and how to fix them.

And finally, Christina Hyde, CoreDial's Training Manager, teamed up with a partner to discuss how to identify your ideal customer and how to say “no” to deals that aren't right for your business.

Alas, all good things must come to an end, but not before recognizing some shining stars in the CoreDial channel partner community. The event closed with CoreDial’s annual partner awards ceremony, where we recognized nine partners for their exceptional performance throughout the previous year.


Whew - what an event! We were thrilled to be able to connect with our parters, sponsors and peers, and we're excited for what's to come in the months ahead, as we bring to light many of the initiatives we announced during the event.

What's even more exciting is to see the energy and excitement our partners felt as they headed back to the office to apply what they learned to their businesses.
